How modern mobility data are changing municipal transport planning

Municipalities face the challenge of making mobility safer, more sustainable, and more efficient. Climate protection, traffic safety, and competition for space require informed decisions. A robust data foundation is increasingly becoming a success factor.

The AI-supported video-based traffic capture developed by mouver allows for the simultaneous observation of all types of traffic – from pedestrian and bicycle traffic to motorized traffic. In addition to traffic volumes, speeds, overtaking distances, dwell times, and movement patterns can be recorded. This creates a comprehensive picture of the traffic situation as well as – in repeated surveys – its temporal development.

The added value lies not only in data collection, but in its efficient evaluation. Through a dedicated analysis platform, the data is analyzed automatically. Large-scale surveys and complex junctions can also be examined efficiently. Usage patterns and conflict points become visible and provide an objective basis for the evaluation of measures and for strategic decisions.

Another advantage: hardware and software come from a single source. The collected data remain our responsibility and are not passed on to third parties. This ensures a high level of data protection.

Whether new cycling facilities, mobility stations, or redesigns of road space – data-based before-and-after analyses help evaluate traffic loads and changes in usage, demonstrate effects, and further develop measures.

Artificial intelligence opens up possibilities for evaluating large amounts of data efficiently and recognising developments early. Applications and projects at the German Road and Transport Congress and in the accompanying trade exhibition show how modern mobility data and AI are used in practice.
